The St. Francis Animal Rescue Center in Ft. Mill, S.C. is a no-kill, cage-free animal rescue and shelter; they currently have 83 animals, 82 cats and 1 dog. They are in a frightening financial crisis, right now, because of several medical emergencies in a few short months, that proved to be very expensive.
Because of renovations to their shelter that were begun but never finished, their building is in a state of disrepair which has drastically reduced their adoption rate and, therefore, their income. They have been informed by their landlord that they have to relocate by the end of January. Right now, they have neither a new location nor the funds for the move. They are the only truly no-kill shelter in the area and, if they have to close, there will be no safe place for an animal to go in that area, where they won’t run the risk of eventually being euthanized.
They are currently in the process of applying for 501c3 status, and once they receive it, that will help a great deal. Charlene, the Director, welcomes any suggestions, advice or potential resources that anyone can share with her.
